It rained overnight, so not going out for the middle of the night Grand eruption was the proper decision. Woke up around the 14 hour mark, so a good time to see what was going on. It was still heavy overcast, and rain seemed likely. As it turned out, I got there in time for a Turban Delay interval. Rumor has it that the NPS recorded an eruption time of around 02:00, so that meant it was the early Delay interval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the third Turban interval later, there was again heavy overflow that looked like it was leading up to a Turban Delay. The expected rain never materialized, it was mostly clear and warming. Grand had an explosive start, nicely backlit by the sun. The total duration of the two burst eruption was just over ten minutes, and Vent & Turban quit suddenly, as if the eruption had been a lot longer. It was hard to tell, because the runoff was wet by the rains, but it appears West Triplet never came close to overflowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Castle erupted just before I left the cabin, and was going into a nice steam phase by the time I got out there. The wait for the One Burst Grand was short, as was the eruption itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
