{"id":3619,"date":"2025-10-08T06:36:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T12:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/geysers.org\/wordpress\/?p=3619"},"modified":"2025-11-27T09:02:19","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T16:02:19","slug":"changes-at-hveradalir-iceland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/geysers.org\/wordpress\/2025\/10\/08\/changes-at-hveradalir-iceland\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes at Hveradalir, Iceland."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Passing along an online report on changes at the Hveradalir geothermal area in Iceland that were posted at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/icelandmonitor.mbl.is\/news\/latest\/\" target=\"_blank\">Iceland Monitor<\/a> site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Increased visible steam has been observed along the national highway through Hveradalir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geophysicist Ari Trausti Gu\u00f0mundsson says that steam vents often form at relatively shallow depths in areas of geothermal activity and near hot springs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe best example is in Hverahl\u00ed\u00f0, south of the road leading up to Hellishei\u00f0i, where drilling was carried out for the Hellishei\u00f0i Power Plant. We stopped in there when we visited in 2023. I remember a report from back then about steam appearing along the highway, visible in a traffic webcam view, but can't find that report now.
