I've started work on \"GeyserExplorer\", a new geyser related app. Unlike GeyserLog (or other GeyserTimes apps), this is not intended as an app for geyser gazers to enter information to the database. Instead, it is an attempt at making that information available in a useful and informative way to visitors to the geyser basins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not having to deal with user accounts or data entry makes for a much easier and smaller app, even though I do reuse much from GeyserLog when I can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The app uses the iPhone GPS\/LocationManager to help determine what information to display, based on the user's location. It starts with displaying information only on the main, predicted geysers. The user can change a setting that will include other features, and in the worst case, show every feature in a group or basin. This way a new user is not overwhelmed by useless information on insignificant or dormant features. I'm also looking at ways to filter out geyser-gamer noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
