Definitely spent more time at Norris than necessary. But with the nice day, and weather changing some time tonight, and the bison infested roads, it seemed worthwhile to stay put.
There wasn't much difference in the activity of the last few days. Suzanne and I are starting to wonder if what we are now seeing is more like the activity of the early 1980s, where there was a progression from North to South to Concerted. What we've seen these past weeks has never progressed beyond North except for that last hour of observation before nightfall before the last eruption.
Back in the Upper Basin (it took longer to get there, thanks to six bison that added 20 minutes to the time to get from Monument Trailhead to Beryl Spring), It was time to go out for another sunset Grand eruption. While waiting for Grand, we also got to see a series of Bulger minor eruptions, Daisy, a Castle with a long pause, and Slurp.
Grand itself waited until the Turban eruption after the sun set. But the eruption was still nice, with magenta clouds providing a background, and we even got a second burst.
