Observations for 2022 August 17

Just couldn't stay away, so back out at Grand well after midnight. Less than an hour's wait for the One Burst Grand eruption, which started with a nice explosive start by Grand. Since the moonlight was still bright, didn't illuminate the eruption and get the start times for Turban and Vent. Did brave the rain to the north to make sure that Vent did start at around the four minute mark.

With all the relatively short intervals since the last Rift eruption, came back out in the morning with an expectation of a short wait. That didn't happen. Instead had to wait nearly three hours for the One Burst Grand eruption. No Turban Delay intervals, just Grand never showing any signs of trying to erupt until the the final interval.

Right after Grand ended, Oblong erupted, which seems all too common lately.

During the wait, the water level in Belgian rose from being well below the second lobe (down maybe 10 cm) to having standing water in the lobe. Also toward the end of the wait for Grand, a small amount of sizzling was visible in Sputnik during the eruptions of Sput D. The intervals for Sput D's eruptions varied from 10 to 25 minutes, and I don't think I missed any, and there didn't seem to be any pattern to them.

Right after Grand, before we could untie our bicycles, Castle started erupting. This turned into a long minor eruption, over ten minutes long, with lots of pauses during the last three minutes.

It was a nice wait before sunset. Once again Grand did not have any Turban Delay Intervals, but two Turban eruptions before Grand erupted, there was a short, powerful Turban eruption, followed by a short Turban interval. It's almost as if there was some sort of delay going on.

The eruption started with a series of boops. It ended at 8m42s, and finally had a huge second burst. Following that the pool drained with no attempt at another burst, despite the duration only being just over ten minutes. And then Vent and Turban continued to erupt.

Belgian Pool was quite high by then, and it sounded like Crystal had even managed to drown Slurp a little. West Triplet also overflowed heavily after the Grand eruption, but no attempt at bursting or erupting.
